Bo Nau Grotto

Bo Nau (Pelican) Grotto lies on a small mountain isle 15km from Bai Chay within an area of many beautiful islands, northwest of Bo Hon Island. The grotto’s mouth is quite large (50 – 70m wide) with an arched upper with several stalactites. An early, and very famous, photograph taken in 1959 from the inside of Bo Nau Grotto, shows the grotto’s large entrance with its stalagmites as if one looking outwards from a monstrous mouth. To the south, there are some traces of prehistoric humans. At the end of the grotto, there are huge stalactites resemble three old men playing chess.
